After Care Instructions
Caring for your new hair extension
Your brand new hair extension is made from authentic human hair, so it needs to be cared for just like your own hair.
-
Detangle before use
Always start by detangling your clip-in extensions before you put them in or taking them out. Use a wide-tooth comb or a soft-bristle brush, working from the ends of the extensions and moving upward toward the clips. -
Minimise washing
Since clip-in extensions aren't attached to your scalp, they don't get oily like natural hair, so they don't need to be washed as frequently. Aim to wash them every 5-10 wears or when they accumulate product buildup. -
Washing your extensions
Step 1: Remote all tangles using a soft-bristle brush
Step 2: Fill a basin or sink with lukewarm water
Step 3: Add a small amount of sulphate-free shampoo - preferably one designed for hair extensions
Step 4: Submerge the extensions, gently massaging the shampoo from top to bottom
Step 5: Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water until all shampoo is gone
Step 6: Apply a hydrating conditioner and let it sit for 5-10 mins
Step 7: Rinse with cold water to seal in moisture -
Air-dry extensions
After washing, lay your extensions flat on a towel and gently pat them to remove excess water. Let them air-dry naturally. Avoid blow-drying as it can cause damage and make the hair frizzy. If necessary, use a low heat setting on a hairdryer. -
Avoid heat styling
Heat styling tools like straighteners or curling irons can shorten the lifespan of your extensions. Apply a heat protectant spray beforehand and keep the temperature low.
-
Store your extensions properly
When not in use, store your clip-in extensions in a dry, cool place. Keep them in a breathable fabric bag or wrap them in a silk scarf to prevent tangling and dust accumulation. - Avoid sleeping or showering with extensions in
-
Minimise product use
Using too many products, such as hairspray, mousse or serums can cause buildup on the extensions, making them feel heavy and dirty. Use products sparingly and always opt for lightweight, alcohol-free formulas.
Additional tips:
- Avoid excessive brushing: Over-brushing can cause shedding. Be gentle and only brush when necessary.
- Avoid using clip-ins daily.
- Keep away from open flames.
By following these steps, you'll keep your clip-in hair extensions looking shiny, healthy and beautiful for longer!
